Some of you have met O. Tilton and Winifred Tilton.
Some of you have only heard rumors of their breakfast negotiations and ongoing snack policy debates.
We didn't have adding pigs to the farm in our plans for last year....but one day a pig from a neighboring farm found her way to our pasture...she seemed to like it. Her family came and took her back home...but about a week later she was back. She seemed to like the goats...and the goats seemed OK with her....so...
Our neighbors said if she wanted to live here...they were OK with that. So..we brought her into the family. She prefers to use her fist name initial O. As her name...
She settled right in...but still seemed a bit lonely so we decided she should probably have another pig to keep her company and to snuggle with. So we found a little piglet that was being raised for food...and brought her to live at the hollow. She was given the name Winifred by Farmer Jeff.
They are here to stay.
O. Tilton and Winifred are permanent residents of Tilton Hollow. They will never be food animals, and they don’t produce anything for the farm...and we certainly didnt plan to have any pigs...but it happened.
They are part of our family, and they will live out their lives here exactly as they are .... safe, comfortable, and very committed to snacks.
Caring for them means providing feed, hay, bedding, and veterinary care throughout their lives. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s part of the promise we make to every animal who finds their way here.
Because many of you have asked how you can help support the animals who aren’t part of the soap-making team, (though O. and Winifred want it know they have launched their own signature goat milk soap bar)...
we’re introducing something simple and meaningful:
Pig Sponsorship
A sponsorship helps cover O. Tilton and Winifred’s ongoing care and ensures they always have a forever home here at Tilton Hollow.
As a thank-you, sponsors receive:
• a bar of O. & Winifred’s Fig Bar soap
• a Pig Sponsor certificate
• a short pig adventure story from the barn
It’s our way of sharing a little piece of their world with you.
They may not contribute measurable economic value…
…but they contribute greatly to morale, laughter, and the general spirit of the hollow.
Thank you for helping us keep our promises to the animals who call Tilton Hollow home.
With gratitude from all of us ...two-legged and four-legged,
All of us.
